Mozart’s Coronation Mass is undoubtedly the best known and, for many, the finest of the masses that he wrote for the Archbishop of Salzburg. This mass gained its nickname of “Coronation Mass” following the 1791 seminal performance conducted by Antonio Salieri in Prague at the coronation of Leopold II as King of Bohemia. The Coronation Mass is compact and festive, with moments of intimacy and expressiveness interwoven through the use of a soloist quartet.
On October 26th, the Grace Parish Choir and Orchestra will perform this work. I will be featured as the mezzo-soprano soloist.
