Aliyah’s distinctive style incorporates classical and theatrical stylings into a jazz aesthetic, rife with spontaneity and freedom of expression. She never likes to sing a song the same way twice.

Aliyah has always seen music, first and foremost, as storytelling. As a kid, she studied piano and learned basic theory before joining choir. Through school choirs and talent shows, Aliyah began to discover a world of singing that seemed to beckon her in.

In college, Aliyah began pursuing music more seriously and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Vocal Performance. She studied classical and musical theater repertoire and continued her infatuation with storytelling through music. Throughout this, the longstanding question always pervaded: which style would she pick?

Since graduating college, she has thrown herself headfirst into every facet of the musical world of Atlanta. She has sung in a variety of venues, including: The Velvet Note, Sebastian PINTXOS Bar, Deep Roots Chamblee, Roaring Social Alpharetta, and Atlanta Symphony Hall. She gigs as both a jazz and a classical singer, performing jazz standards in intimate venues across the city alongside being contracted for classical performances, such as mezzo-soprano soloist for Mozart’s Coronation Mass.

Musically, she enjoys discovering the places where genres converge and exploring that space beyond stylistic constraint. Her musical background has been very diverse, and these varied influences are made apparent in her genre-defying sound.

Aliyah is eternally grateful for the incredible network of musicians and friends she has made singing in Atlanta. She treasures the opportunity to do what she loves with talented, hardworking people and is constantly inspired by her musical peers.
